Today Pump House Gardens is the little garden center that you all know and love. From the friendly and knowledge staff to the beautiful flowers that are sold. A place where you can bump into friends or work collages on a warm spring day, we have worked hard to get where we are and want to keep going. In 2000 we were going strong. Mr. & Mrs. Thomas were still around over seeing day to day operations with Diana mainly running the business with the help of her sister Debbie on the weekends and at Christmas. In spring 2001, Diana’s daughter Tina Hodson joined the family business as a full time employee. The staff was still small and always knowledgeable and ready to help in anyway we can. In 2001 still growing 95 % of the flowers and all of the perennials that we supplied to the customers, Diana and Tina had their hands full, unfortunately in late 2001 Mr. Thomas health had began to decline. They still kept the business going. In the winter of 2002 we had greenhouses full of spring pansies, geraniums, and perennials ready for another season to help the public. That spring went well, late summer of 2002 Mr. Thomas’s health declined even further. He passed on Sept 25, 2002. He is greatly missed. Mrs. Thomas, Diana, Tina, and Debbie kept going on with the business that fall and Christmas season. In 2003 we had another spring right around the corner. Diana and Tina were doing most of the growing with the supervision of Mrs. Thomas. Spring was here and what a rainy spring it was. We made it thru it and into the a hot and dry summer. Unfortunately in the summer of 2003 Mrs. Thomas was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. She went through treatment with the support of her entire family. Fall came and went and so did the Christmas Season. She lost the battle with Lung Cancer on January 28, 2004. She is greatly missed in the winter of 2004 Diana and Tina went through the day to day operations growing plants. Debbie still helped on the weekends when she could as in 2004 she was diagnosed with a rare form of Kidney Cancer. Through all this sad times there was happy times as Diana and Debbie were planning weddings for their daughters. Tina got married on June 11, 2004 and Debbie’s daughter Becki got married on October 16, 2004. In 2005 Diana bought Pump House Gardens from the Estate of Mrs. Thomas. Now she and her daughter have the business to keep it going the way Mr. & Mrs. Thomas would have wanted. They have been doing great keeping it going. In 2005 they added Pump House Gardens to the World Wide Web with the help of Bob Thomas. They also added Customer Appreciation Weekend, where you the customer get’s 10 %off an entire purchase, our way of saying thank you for shopping with us. In 2006 they started to sell handmade unfinished wood pieces made by a local resident. We also started carrying potting soil and containers for you to make your own decorative containers at home. In 2007, we became a Proven Winner Certified Garden Center to be able to help you better with the Proven Winner line of products that we sell. Debbie’s health started to take a turn for the worse. She lost her battle with Kidney Cancer on July 31, 2007. She I greatly missed. Happy news was coming our way, we found out that we would have an addition to family Tina was pregnant and due December 31, 2007. Tina and her husband Chris welcomed a baby boy on December 26, 2007 Christopher Hodson Jr the fourth generation (maybe). It was a much needed gift. In 2008, Pump House Gardens has tried to offer you the best help and product in these struggling financial times. This little garden center is here to stay and we are looking to the future every day!
